Disaster Breeds Quality Healthcare

Our work in Peru began in the wake of a massive earthquake that struck off the central coast on August 15, 2007. Initially, we were based in Lima’s Children’s Hospital where we assisted with aid and food distribution, and ran a temporary health clinic to care for those directly affected by the disaster – but that was just the beginning. In December of that year, we opened the doors to the “Policlínico Peruano Americano” in San Clemente, the poorest district in Pisco. Since then, we’ve treated more than 15,000 patients and deepened our ties to the community by providing consistent access to quality health care. Currently, our offerings include general medical services, Pap smear exams, laboratory, EKG services, and dental services 3 times a week, as well as education and prevention programs.
